The title translated to English is: Artificial Intelligence Comes to Astrology
By
publishedAn innovative machine offers services from a tech firm that provides astrological readings using artificial intelligence. This device, created by Co-Star, a company with a dedicated astrology app, answers specific questions like “Should I start a cult?” using the users' date, time, and place of birth.
The machine, which was located next to the deli counter, stood out among the stacked cardboard boxes at the entrance of Iconic Magazines. Its size was comparable to that of a washing machine, with dark buttons, flashing lights, and gauges labeled with names of celestial bodies — “Sun,” “Moon,” and the eight planets — on its white exterior.
“It could be a NASA device,” commented Tim Wiedmann, a 27-year-old German student who visited the store in Manhattan on a Wednesday in June. While observing the machine, the screen offered him an instruction: “Ask the stars.” With a knob, he navigated through approximately 100 questions, which included: How can I improve at my job? Should I move out of New York? Should I start a cult?
After selecting a question, he entered his date, time, and place of birth. The screen displayed a message indicating: “All answers are based on astrological calculations.” With its built-in camera, the machine captured an image of the student. Moments later, it issued a paper containing his pixelated portrait and a response to his inquiry.
